Fiestas Finestrat
Fiestas in Finestrat start with the Fiesta de Antonio del Porquet, 02.01.11, marking the pilgrimage, begins with the blessing of the animals. The day culminates with the celebration of other popular festivities.
Fiesta de San Blas, 3.02.11 with a spectacular fireworks display on the night.
The Fiesta de los Geladors. It is held in February, 9.02.11, with childrens toys and ice creams being given out on the square of the same name.
Carnival 03.03.11, the parades bring bright colours to the streets of the village.
Easter 17.04.11 - 24.04.11, the sobriety and simplicity of the processions that are carried out during Easter week have a special attraction of their own.
From the end of May through to September various festivals are held in different neighbourhoods of the village, with support from the Town Coucil and local businesses.
The Fiesta de San Miguel are held from 27.09.11 - 29.09.11. The San Miguel Hermitage (18th century) is home to a popular pilgrimage on the Sunday before the saint's day (27th September), with a set programme of firecrackers, sack races and a typical lunch of coca en oli. These festivities run alongside the celebrations organised by the Fernoveta - San Miguel Neighbourhood Association throughout the weekend.
The Tourist Festival is held in the Finestrat Cove from 19.09.11 - 20.09.11. Music plays the leading role in these fiestas, which are held in honour of tourism. There are concerts, verbenas (open-air celebrations held on the eve of a saint's day) and passacaglia but also leaving room for sports competitions and fancy dress balls.
